Abstract

In the second double issue of our 13th volume we continue investigating current political trends and dynamics, and with the help of Örs Tetlák we focus on the latest elections in the Republic of South Africa in light of unresolved domestic socio-economic problems. Alexandra Béni, then, offers an investigation of how the most popular Hungarian news websites represent Africa with the aim to highlight the tendencies and patterns used in their communication between 2015 and 2017. In our travel diary section, wheelchair globetrotter Bendegúz Lóránd Nagy shares his exciting experiences and photos with us about his trip to Guinea Bissau. Szilárd Biernaczky writes about one of the most significant Hungarian Africanists, László Magyar – whose 200th birthday anniversary we celebrated last year – and his scientific observations. Engineer Zoltán Papp reports on another Hungarian civic effort to contribute to the betterment of everyday life in the Kenyan-Tanzanian bordertown Namanga by the introduction of cargobikes. Finally, in our book review section András A. Gergely provides a deep overview of one of anthropologist Tamás Régi’s newest monographs. We wish you more Africa and enjoyable reading!
