Abstract

This study ist the second part of the presentation „Protection of Family and Marriage in Modern Hungarian Private Law” kept on the 1st Family Law Workshop of the Dezső Márkus Research Group for Comparative Legal History. In this paper it is intended to deal with a single equipment for protection of marriage: the conciliation as historical prelude of the mediation. The consiliation will be presented as institution of marriage law of the denominations before 1895 and as institution of the secular divorce law after 1895 (ordered by Marriage Act No. XXXI of 1894 and Civil Procedure Code No. I of 1911).  Its goal, method and effectivity will be analised in the mirror of mediation in the Hungarian divorce law in force
